Les tontons mangeurs

Les tontons mangeurs

tupelo honey

The perfect day, as Lou Reed would sing, starts with a good breakfast. If you are fond of good coffee with some toasts, butter and a little selection of delicious marmalade and jam, head directly to the Tupelo Honey, situated 27 Parkway in Camden Town, London.

This warm and cosy little building lets you enjoy a selection of sandwiches and homemade cakes.
It stands on three floors that look like an old apartment reconverted in a little café/restaurant. On the first floor, you will find, besides a warm welcome with smiles, the selection of pastries and the first room with a fireplace, which suits totally in this white and wooden atmosphere even if it is a fake one. Pieces of furniture are all different, made of wood, and you can even recognise old church chairs.

The second floor is quite the same, though a little bit bigger. You can find big leather sofas on the third and last floor and, if the weather allows it, you can take advantage of the little terrace the lies just outside of it.

After placing your order at the entrance, you sit wherever you want, waiting for your hot drinks and freshly made sandwiches to arrive. Be careful though not to order a big coffee and sitting on the third floor as the waiter might probably drop some of it while he brings your coffee upstairs.

The place is not too expensive: You will pay £9.35 for 2 cappuccinos, 1 honey, mustard and chicken sandwich and 4 toasts with butter, raspberry jam and marmalade.
